R. Ostrowski, Retired Police Officer, Dies
Ronald W. Ostrowski, 61, a retired Chicago policeman, died Dec. 27 at his home in Chicago’s Ashburn neighborhood.
Among the survivors of Mr. Ostrowski, who was a member of the Chicago Police Department for more than three decades, are his two sons, both of whom are Chicago police officers.
Indeed, Mr. Ostrowski even worked for a time with his older son, Anthony, on security detail at the home of Mayor Daley in the South Loop.
Mr. Ostrowski’s other son, Jon, is also a Chicago policeman.
After retiring as a policeman, Mr. Ostrowski was a parking attendant at several Chicago sporting venues, including Soldier Field and the United Center.
In addition to his sons, he is survived by his wife, Diane (nee Czajkowski).
Mr. Ostrowski was a member of St. Jude and the Federation of Police.
Services were Dec. 31 from Brady-Gill Funeral Home to St. Thomas More Church. Interment was at Holy Cross Hospital.
Vince Parmigiani, Of Vince’s Pizza, Dies
Vince Parmigiani, 88, founder of Vince’s Pizza, died Jan. 2 at his Clearing home in Chicago.
Mr. Parmigiani and his late wife, Mary, founded the pizza restaurant, 6217 W. 63rd St., Chicago, in 1956. Members of the family are still operating the business today.
Mr. Parmigiani is survived by his sons, John, Michael and Vincent Jr.; daughter, Nancy Kelly; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were Tuesday from Parkside Chapels (Dalcamo Directors) to St. Rene Goupil Church. Interment was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Joseph Barzyk
Joseph J. “Whitey” Barzyk, 76, a resident of Chicago’s Archer Heights community, died Dec. 28 at Christ Hospital.
Mr. Barzyk, an Army veteran of the Korean War, was an office manager for Central Steel.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Alyce (nee Murphy); daughter, Laura; and son, Daniel.
Services were Dec. 31 from Foran Funeral Home to St. Joseph Church. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery.
Czeslawa Graca
Czeslawa Graca (nee Molek), 51, a resident of Chicago’s Garfield Ridge neighborhood, died Monday at MacNeal Hospital.
Mrs. Graca was a Matron cleaning lady.
She is survived by her daughters, Grazyna Konopnicka, Barbara and Dorota Graca; sons, Robert, Daniel, Jozef and David Graca; and brothers, Julian and Jozef Molek.
Services were yesterday (Thursday) from Zarzycki Manor Chapels to St. Camillus Church. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery.
Theresa Jennings
Theresa Jennings (nee Brohan), 70, a resident of Chicago’s Southwest Side, died Dec. 29 at St. James Hospital.
Mrs. Jennings was supervisor for a meat packing company.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas and Patrick; daughter, Barbara; sisters, Barbara Conneely, Kathleen O’Malley and Eileen Daly; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were Monday from Andrew J. McGann & Son Funeral Home to St. Linus Church in Oak Lawn.
Interment was at St. Mary Cemetery in Evergreen Park.
Erwin Michaels
Erwin John Michaels, 87, a former resident of Chicago’s Archer Heights neighborhood, died Dec. 31 at La Grange Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Michaels, a major in the Air Force, was owner of the former Michaels Real Estate that was on Archer Avenue in the Archer Heights neighborhood.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta; daughters, Sherry Scouffas, Cathy Michaels and Claudette Buresh; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Interment was Tuesday at Resurrection Cemetery. (Arrangements were by Szykowny Funeral Home [Jonathan F. Siedlecki, director.])
Violet Przbylowicz
Violet J. Przbylowicz (nee Sierecki), 94, a former resident of Chicago’s Archer Heights neighborhood, died Jan. 1 at Salem Village.
Mrs. Przbylowicz, a member of the Polish Union of America, was a retired custodian for the Prudential Building.
She is survived by her son, Peter; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were Wednesday at Zarzycki Manor Chapels. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery.
Stanley Raczka
Stanley W. Raczka, 83, a Burbank resident, died Jan. 1 at the Palos Hills Nursing Home.
Mr. Raczka, an Army veteran, was an inspector for a printing company.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; brother, Edward Raczka; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were Wednesday at Lawn Funeral Home. Entombment was at Resurrection Mausoleum.
Marie Serritelli
Marie Serritelli (nee Brash), 77, a resident of Chicago’s Garfield Ridge neighborhood, died Dec. 31 at Alden Town Nursing Home.
Mrs. Serritelli, a homemaker, is survived by her children, Jo Ann Dybas, Carol Luzzo, Tomacine Serritelli and Larry Serritelli; two grandchildren; and sister, Delores Vanenta.
Services were Monday from Foran Funeral Home St. Daniel the Prophet Church. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery.
Andrzej Stasik
Andrzej Stasik, 26, died Jan. 3 at his home in Chicago’s Garfield Ridge neighborhood.
Mr. Stasik was a sky cap for Midway Airport.
Among survivors are his parents, Jozef and Maria (nee Szostak) Stasik; and sisters, Teresa Dziadkowiec and Monika Stasik.
Services were Wednesday from Zarzycki Manor Chapels to St. Camillus Church. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery.
Raymond Ybarra
Raymond Ybarra, 49, a former resident of Chicago’s Archer Heights neighborhood, died Dec. 23 at Forest McGaw Hospital.
Mr. Ybarra, a homemaker, is survived by his sons, Steven and Matthew; parents, Nick Ybarra and Frances Nares; three grandchildren; and siblings, Susan Chavez, Rachel Fernandez, Mario, Sinthia, Michelle, Michael Jr. and Frank.
Services were Monday at Zarzycki Manor Chapels. Interment was at St. Mary Cemetery.
