Kathleen Hickey, 50, Former Teacher, Dies  
Kathleen A. Hickey (nee Liston), 50, a former teacher at St. Denis School, died May 8 at her Oak Lawn home.

Mrs. Hickey is survived by her husband, Brian Hickey; daughters, Mary Alice and Claire Hickey; son, Brian Hickey Jr.; sisters, Marie Liston, Bridget Koviekis, Patricia Nevin and Mary O’Grady; and nieces and nephews.

Services were Tuesday from The Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home to St. Linus Church. Interment was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Fred King, Retired Firefighter, 75, Dies
Fred L. King, 75, a Scottsdale resident, died Saturday at Palos Community Hospital.

Mr. King was retired from the Chicago Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife, Lois M. King (nee Mizner); sons, William and Gary; daughters, Karen, Teresa and Mary Lynn King; four grandchildren; sister, Mary Walker; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were Tuesday from the Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home to St. Bede the Venerable Church. Interment was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Lena Naponelli, Local Centenarian, Dies
Lena A. Naponelli (nee Mondia), 103, a Garfield Ridge resident, died May 9 at Hinsdale Hospital.

Mrs. Naponelli was a retired seamstress.

She is survived by   many nieces and nephews.

Services were Monday from Ridge Funeral Home to St. Daniel the Prophet Church. Entombment was at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum.



Joseph Bafia
Joseph Bafia, 63, a Garfield Ridge resident, died May 6 at MacNeal Hospital.

Mr. Bafia was a carpenter.

He is survived by his wife, Anna (nee Naumowicz); son, Christopher; two grandchildren; mother, Klementyna (nee Bukowska); sisters, Janina Duda and Sophie Lesnicki; brothers, John and Andrew Bafia; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were Saturday from Richard-Midway Funeral Home to St. Camillus Church. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery.

Walter Dabrowski
Walter J. Dabrowski, 78, a former Garfield Ridge resident, died May 7 at Manor Care nursing home in Naperville.

Mr. Dabrowski was an Army veteran and retired material handler for Paccar Corp.

Survivors include his daughters, Maria Kozmel and Marcia Dabrowski; sons, John and Andrew Dabrowski; three grandchildren; sister, Irene Ignowski; brother, Casimir Dabrowski; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were Tuesday from Richard-Midway Funeral Home to St. Jane de Chantal Church. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery.

Conrad Fisher
Conrad W. “Bill” Fisher, 77, died May 8 at his Archer Heights home.

Mr. Fisher was a retired traffic manager with Armour-Dial for more than 45 years. A Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of Ted Stempien VFW Post 8821 and Archer Highland American Legion Post 698.

He is survived by his sisters, Gloria Noffke and Diane Hrachovsky; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Services were Monday at Zarzycki Manor Chapels. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery.

Eleaner Haugh
Eleaner M. Haugh (nee Pedersen), 94, a Clearing resident, died May 4 at a nursing home in Bolingbrook.

Mrs. Haugh, a housewife, is survived by her sons, Edward (CFD, retired), Martin and Michael; daughter, June Scalise; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Carrig; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were last Friday from Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home to St. Rene Goupil Church. Interment was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Louise Klunk
Louise Julia Klunk (nee Hammersmith), 87, a 47-year resident of Gage Park, died May 4 at her home.

Mrs. Klunk worked for 27 years for World’s Finest Chocolate, and was a parishioner of St. Simon the Apostle Church since 1961.

Survivors include her sons, Edward and Duane Klunk; daughter, Barbara Kleinwachter; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Bonnie Canty, Ginny Morrow, Midge Casper and Florence Dube; brother, Timothy Hammersmith; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were May 7 from Marin Funeral Home to St. Simon the Apostle Church. Interment was at St. Mary Cemetery.

Mary Luzzi
Mary C. “Marie” Luzzi (nee Brohan), 75, a West Lawn resident, died May 9 at Christ Hospital.

Mrs. Luzzi was a retired cashier.

Survivors include her husband, Anthony Luzzi; daughters, Angela McCarthy and Margaret Mary; sons, John, Michael and Anthony Luzzi Jr.; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; and sisters, Theresa, Barbara, Kathleen and Eileen.

Services were Thursday from Robert Sheehy Funeral Home to St. Mary Star of the Sea Church. Interment was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Frances Mechenes
Frances C. Mechenes (nee Wegrzyn), 84, a former Central Stickney resident, died May 7 at her home in Seffner, Fla.

Mrs. Mechenes was a homemaker and past president of Rhine VFW Post 2729 Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include her daughter, Marcia Cicero; son, Wayne Mechenes; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were Tuesday at Ridge Funeral Home. Interment was private.

Elisa Sanchez
Elisa Sanchez (nee Villareal), 44, a West Lawn resident, died Saturday at Holy Cross Hospital.

Mrs. Sanchez was a secretary.

Survivors include her husband, Claudio Sanchez; sons, Luis Giovanni, Miguel Angel and Claudio Luis Sanchez; father, Isidro Villareal; sisters, Theresa Perez, Anna Villareal, Raquel Olague, Laura Bonilla and Sandra Ruvalcaba; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were Wednesday from Wolniak Funeral Home to St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.

Helen Stepien
Helen Stepien (nee Zagorski), 90, a Garfield Ridge resident, died May 5 at the Lexington Nursing Home.

Mrs. Stepien, a homemaker, is survived by her daughter, Virginia Tarra; son, Ron Stepien; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Dolores Wolfe; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were last Friday from Foran Funeral Home to St. Symphorosa Church. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery.

Francisco Vega
Francisco Vega, 87, a Gage Park resident, died Monday at Christ Hospital.

Mr. Vega was a retired laborer.

Survivors include his sons, Manuel, Tranquilino, Jesus, Anselmo, Adan and Francisco Vega; daughters, Piedad Patino and Paula Gracia; 30 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren.

Services were Thursday evening at Szykowny Funeral Home. Interment will be in La Luz, Municipio de Celaya, Gunajuato, Mexico.

Howard Weber
Howard Eugene Weber, 92, who formerly lived and worked on the Southwest Side, died May 7 in his hometown of Dousman, Wis.

Mr. Weber belonged to St. Mary Star of the Sea Parish and worked for 40 years at Clearing Machine Corp. He was a member of the Holy Name Society.

Mr. Weber is survived by his daughters, Sharon McNellis and Carol Bishop; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services were May 10 in Wisconsin. Interment was at St. Mary Cemetery in Evergreen Park.

Michael Zambole
Michael J. Zambole Sr., 83, a Garfield Ridge resident, died Saturday at RMC Hospital in Hinsdale.

Mr. Zambole was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired mailman. He was also a greeter and usher at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Colleen Petkus; three grandchildren; sister, Eleanor Falsetti; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were Tuesday from Richard-Midway Funeral Home to Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church. Interment was at  Bethania Cemetery.

Marian Zientek
Marian Zientek (nee Lewandowski), 53, a Garfield Ridge resident, died Saturday at Loyola Medical Center.

Mrs. Zientek was a court reporter for the state of Illinois. She was also a Eucharistic minister and member of the Ladies Guild at St. Jane de Chantal Church.

Survivors include her husband, John J. Zientek; sons, John J. III and Brian J. Zientek; sisters, Carol, Patricia Sabatini and Rita Hodgetts; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were Tuesday from Parkside Chapels & Cremation Services to St. Jane de Chantal Church. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery.
