Shoplifting At Kmart
A man has been charged with two counts of retail theft at Kmart, 4101 W. 95th St.
A loss prevention officer was doing overnight surveillance from Tuesday, April 29 to Wednesday, April 30, and allegedly saw Marquis McComb, 21, from the 2000 block of West 82nd Place, Chicago, conceal $68.37 worth of merchandise and leave the store without paying for the items.
On Wednesday, May 7, at about 6:15 a.m., McComb was allegedly seen again selecting several items totaling $151.73 and exiting the store without paying for the items. He was then stopped and escorted back to the office, and the merchandise was recovered and photographed.
McComb was charged with two counts of retail theft.
Man Arrested For Possession
A man was arrested at about 6:30 p.m. April 18 for allegedly possessing cannabis on the 5000 block of West 107th Street.
Reportedly, an officer saw a vehicle that had a portable television/DVD player and was able to hear the sound system.
The officer made a traffic stop and began talking to the driver. While conversing, the officer reportedly smelled cannabis, and the driver, John Solomon, 22, from the 10700 block of South Kildare, allegedly admitted to having cannabis in the vehicle. The officer searched the vehicle and found 20 grams of cannabis.
Solomon was charged with possession of cannabis and given various traffic violations.
Accident With DUI
A man was arrested after allegedly causing a car accident, while intoxicated, at about 9:50 p.m. April 27 on the 5600 block of West 95th Street.
Police responded to the scene of an accident and observed Matthew Stell, 36, from the 4900 block of West Paxton Road, sitting on the sidewalk bleeding from his head. When asked what happened, Stell, according to police, said he did not know, but a driver from another vehicle was being loaded into an ambulance at the same time.
A witness told police that Stell was in the westbound turning lane on Central to make a left-hand turn onto 95th Street, but Stell turned into the east-bound lane while the eastbound traffic had the right of way and hit an oncoming vehicle.
Stell was transported to Christ Hospital, where, police said, it was found that he had a .353 blood alcohol level. He was charged with driving under the influence and driving under the influence with a BAC over .08.
Attempted Shoplifter Caught
A woman was charged with attempting to steal from Kmart, 4101 W. 95th St., at about 11:30 a.m. May 3.
A loss prevention officer allegedly saw Jill Guilfoyle, 45, from the 10600 block of South Sacramento, Chicago, place curtains and other items into her cart, then conceal them in her jacket and purse. Guilfoyle then walked past the last point of purchase without paying for the items and was stopped by loss prevention.
She allegedly had $195.32 worth of merchandise, and was charged with retail theft. She also had an active warrant out of Oak Lawn.
