You know you’re a mom when:
• You count the sprinkles on each kid’s cupcake to make sure they’re equal.
• You find yourself cutting your husband’s sandwiches into cute shapes.
• You can’t bear to give away baby clothes — it’s so final!
• You hear your mother’s voice coming out of your mouth when you yell, “NOT in your good clothes!”
• You stop criticizing the way your mother raised you.
• You hire a sitter because it’s been ages since you and your husband had a night out together, then spend half the night checking on the kids.
• You often say to yourself, “I’m not cut out for the job!” but you know you wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Happy Mother’s Day to all moms, grandmoms, great-grandmoms and as-close-as-it-gets mother figures.

An acknowledgement to reader George Cundari: Indeed, the Cascades are the original artists of “Rhythm of Falling Rain.” However, covers of the song were performed by several diverse artists, including Ricky Nelson, Dan Fogelberg, Johnny Rivers, Bobby Darin, Percy Faith and even Lawrence Welk. Ricky Nelson’s version just happens to be my favorite.
