Looking for a job?  Want to change jobs?  The 18th Ward Community Job Fair, sponsored by Ald. Lona Lane, is being held Saturday, May 17 at the Marquette Park Field House, 6734 S. Kedzie Ave., from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A diverse array of businesses seeking immediate or future employees will be present. Workshops on resume writing, preparing for an interview, and job readiness will also be available.

Wrightwood Highlights

This month is Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month at the Wrightwood-Ashburn Library, 8530 S. Kedzie Ave. A special children’s program — “The Art of Origami” — will be held Thursday, May 8 to celebrate. The one-hour program starts at 6 p.m. The children will be introduced to the Japanese art of folding paper into flowers, animals, etc.  For more details, contact the library at (312) 747-2696.

The May CAPS Beat 835 meeting, originally scheduled for Tuesday, May 6 is postponed and rescheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 13. The meeting will be held in the Community Room at the Wrightwood-Ashburn Library, 8530 S. Ashburn Highlights

The parish family of St. Denis Church, 8301 S. St. Louis Ave., will be losing a family member in two months. The Rev. Thomas Mescall, associate pastor, has been named administrator of St. Adrian Parish. His new assignment begins July 1.

Congratulations to Michael Newton on achieving honor roll status at St. Rita High School. Good job, Mike.

Scottsdale Highlights

St. Bede the Venerable School, 4440 W. 83rd St., will host the Archdiocesan Center for Inclusive Education (the Center’s) Summer School Program and Children’s Theatre School.

Two co-ed theater courses will be offered, one for grades second through fourth — “Introduction into Musical Theatre,” and the other for grades fifth through eighth — “Comprehensive Musical Theater Workshop.” If you’re looking to strengthen your child’s academic skills, or for an enrichment program to challenge his or her mind, this summer program is for you.
