Thomas Carmody Of Bridgeview Court Dies
Thomas F. Carmody Jr., the presiding judge at Cook County’s Bridgeview Courthouse, died April 20 while playing golf at the Gleneagles Country Club in Lemont.

Judge Carmody, who suffered a massive heart attack, was 56.

He is the third judge from the Bridgeview Courthouse to die in the past six months. Preceding him in death were Judges Jim Ryan and James O’Malley.

A lifelong Evergreen Park resident, Judge Carmody was presiding judge at the Bridgeview location since August of 2006.

A graduate of John Marshall Law School in 1977, Judge Carmody was an assistant public defender before being elected to the bench in 1992.

He oversaw felony cases before moving to civil law in 2000.

Among survivors are his wife, Linda; children, Tom, Jamie, Michael and Jack; sister, Maureen Schmidt; brother, Matthew; and nephews and nieces.

Services were Saturday at St. Bernadette Church. (Brady-Gill Funeral Home handled the arrangements.) Interment was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Ciro Russo
Ciro Russo, 68, a Bridgeview resident, died April 22 at a hospital.

Mr. Russo was a machine engineer at an electric company.

He is survived by his son, Anthony and Salvatore; daughters, Maria Masterson and Laureen Russo; many grandchildren; brother, Jerry Russo; companion, Gloria; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were last Friday at the Lawn Funeral Home. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery.
