Oak Lawn Pryme Tymers has the Double Nickel Plus Chorus as the entertainment for their Thursday, May 8 Luncheon Program. You don’t want to miss this music and humor-filled afternoon.

The lunch takes place at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9230 S. Pulaski Road. Reservations, which are needed by Friday, May 2, may be arranged by calling (708) 422-5111.

The St. Gerald School sixth-grade science class, in partnership with the Jewel Food Store on 87th and Ridgeland, promoted recycling for Earth Day. As part of Earth Day activities, students from kindergarten through eighth grade decorated paper grocery bags with recycling tips and reminders.

The bags were used to pack groceries at the Jewel. St. Gerald is at 9320 S. 55th Court. Thanks to all the students for making the effort on behalf of us all.

Trinity Lutheran Preschool, 9701 S. Brandt Ave., Oak Lawn, hosts its Dad’s Night at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 9. The children and their dads will be having ice cream sundaes and fun with projects.

Trinity Lutheran Preschool, which began in 1984, is a state-licensed preschool for 3- and 4-year-olds. For more information, call director Cathy Cepican at (708) 422-0193.

PLOWS Home Delivered Meals Program needs volunteer drivers to deliver meals to the home of each client from (usually) 10 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday. More information may be obtained by calling (708) 361-0219 or e-mailing  info@plows.org.

Happy 35th wedding anniversary to Thaddeus and Susan Sochacki. They shared their April 15 celebration with their two children, Michelle and Eric, and grandson, Jeremy.

Fund-raising is an important aspect of many school and church events that appear in this column, and I know how challenging it can be to keep ideas fresh and new. To that end, there is an alternative to enhance your efforts.
