SW Side Sports Happenings, Activities

Players are being sought by Midway Baseball for the Chicagoland Colt and Palomino Baseball Leagues.

The Chicagoland Leagues are for boys from ages 15 to 19, regardless of league affiliation. Many leagues do not offer a program after age 14, but these leagues — Chicagoland’s Colt (ages 15 and 16) and Palomino (17, 18 and 19) Leagues — provide competitive baseball for boys in the 15 to 19 age range.

Seasons will begin the first week of June, after the high school season is over, and end during the first week of August. Teams will be allowed a break in July to participate in the Pony Nationals Tournament.

Team insurance is mandatory and may be arranged through the leagues.

Used as the cutoff date to determine age eligibility is April 30, 2008.

Teams that have participated in the past in the Chicagoland leagues have been from Midway Baseball, Hickory Hills, Southfield (Argo), Scottsdale, Oak Lawn, Clear Ridge and AFCA. Teams from additional leagues are being sought, including those from the Mt. Greenwood/Beverly area.

More information may be obtained by calling Midway Baseball League Director Joe Musolino at (773) 586-4188 or by visiting www.MidwayBaseball.com and clicking on the Inter-league page.

E-mails may be sent to MidwayBaseball@aol.com.
