Man Charged With Theft
A man was arrested for allegedly trying to steal from the TCF bank in Jewel Foods, 9424 S. Pulaski, at about 9:04 p.m.  April 8, around 9:04 p.m. Police received a 911 call about a construction worker believed to have taken a bundle of money.

According to police reports, Patrick Boyd, 23, from the 800 block of South Salem Drive in Schaumburg, allegedly found a bundle believed to be about $2,000 in cash. He reportedly picked it up and took it to his boss. Two witnesses said that they saw Boyd drop the bundle, then it exploded.

Boyd told police that he put the money in his pants and felt the money get warm, then sizzle. Once the money was throw down the dye packs, it exploded and red smoke went all over Boyd, the wall and the floor just outside the bathroom, police state.

Police were called and Boyd was charged with  theft.

Shoplifter Apprehended
A woman was arrested after allegedly stealing from Dominick’s, 8700 S. Cicero Ave., at about 11 a.m.  April 12.

According to reports, Ashley Levanich, 21, from the 21300 block of Wooded Cove Drive in Elwood, was seen selecting various items and left the store without paying for the merchandise.

She then drove away from the parking lot. Police were called and pulled Levanich over on the 8700 block of South Central Avenue. According to reports, Levanich volunteered to open the trunk and let the officers look inside. In the trunk, police said, was the stolen merchandise.

An employee was brought to the scene and positively identified the offender. The merchandise was inventoried and was worth $183, worth of steak and lobster. Levanich also had an active warrant out of Homewood. She was charged with a retail theft.

Gasoline Theft
A man was charged with theft of gasoline at Thorton’s Oil, 9138 S. Cicero Ave., at about 7:50 p.m. April 9.

Police received a call that a man wearing a baseball cap did not pay for gas and fled in a blue Ford Escort. The vehicle was parked on the 9600 block of Cook Avenue. The police knocked on the door and spoke to the driver of the vehicle, Gytis Stanevicius, 20, from the 4800 block of W. 109th Street in Oak Lawn. He was placed under arrest.

The offender was positively identified by an employee of Thorton’s. He allegedly pumped 10.20 gallons for a total of $36.13. Stanevicius was charged with theft.

TV Thief Arrested
A man was charged with stealing April April 10 from Value City, 8716 S. Cicero Ave.

According to reports, a security officer allegedly saw Larry Jackson, 27, from the 4100 block of Monroe in Gary, Ind., place two LCD TVs into a cart, leave the store, place the TVs into his vehicle and return to the store.

Jackson then returned to the electronics department and selected three more 19-inch LCD TVs. Police said that he placed them into the cart. Jackson, according to reports, walked past the last point of purchase without paying for the items.

A security officer attempted to stop him, but Jackson fled the scene, according to reports.

He was found hiding under a car in the lot of O’Conner Hyundai, 8940 S. Cicero Ave. Police searched the vehicle and found an additional three TVs. The merchandise was worth $1,799.94. Jackson was charged with a felony for retail theft.
