We join St. Xavier University and her family and friends in mourning the death of a lifelong educator and sports enthusiast who was also a member of the Sisters of Mercy, and pray that Sister Mary Denis O’Grady, RSM, will rest in eternal peace after her 93 years on this journey.
We send Happy Birthday greetings to our favorite retired nurse, Loretta Balsewich, and hope to celebrate with her on April 27. She is a member of both Queen’s Seniors and Tarkington Park Seniors, and is the nicest lady you would ever hope to meet. She is helpful to all.

Wedding banns recently published at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church were those of Rolando Alvarez and Elizabeth Villapando.
Newly baptized babies at St. Mary’s were Dominic Joseph Piscotti and Nathaly Jean Castillo-Ruiz.
We members of the Queen’s Seniors enjoyed going to Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace to see Neil Simon’s “Sweet Charity,” with Summer Smart playing the extremely energetic dancing/singing role of Shirley McLaine. Thank you to Frank and Maryann Scalise for arranging this great trip, which included a delicious luncheon, and to our capable bus driver, “Charlie,” who is charismatic and gets us there and back safely.
Might I add that this group always starts out with a prayer led by Frank Scalise, and it really works. Not only do we always have a safe trip, but we always avoid the rains. (Did I speak too soon? Hope not.)
Happy Birthday greetings are sent to Mayor Daley, who celebrates on April 24. We wish him “Sto lat.”
Let us whisper our weekly prayer for our gals and guys overseas defending our freedom of speech as well as the other freedoms that we take for granted.
