Oh What A Night! My girlfriend Pat Charleston and I celebrated her birthday at the LaSalle Bank Theatre watching “Jersey Boys” along with a sold out crowd. The approximately three-hour show went by quickly.  Frankie Valli’s life story is quite interesting, and the non-stop music was amazing. I recommend it to everyone. The Four Seasons did grow up on the streets of New Jersey, so the “F” word is quite popular in the show.

As summer approaches, it is time to clean the closets out and donate what is no longer needed. The St. Vincent de Paul Society will be holding a “Bundle Weekend” at St. Richard, 5000 S. Kostner Ave., on Saturday and Sunday April 19 and 20. All types of clothing are needed. A trailer will be parked in the parking lot of the church.

The Chicago Transit Authority has introduced the CTA Bus Tracker.  On certain routes, you will be able to determine in how many more minutes your bus will arrive.

Currently, the bus lines in our area that offer this feature are 62 Archer, 55 Austin, 55 N, 54 B Cicero and 63 W. More routes will be available in May. So if you are standing in the cold and rain and have a Web-enabled cell phone, visit www.transitchicago.com to determine when your bus will arrive at your stop.

A 240-foot replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall will be visiting the Lincoln, Beverly and Oak Hill cemeteries (with Oak Hill being at 119th and Kedzie) on June 13, 14 and 15. Families of Illinois Vietnam Veterans whose names are etched on the wall are invited to attend the ceremonies.

Please contact Kathy Taube at (708) 636-1200 to have your Illinois Vietnam Veteran included during a special service on Saturday, June 14.

There is a new curfew for those under the age of 17. The curfew is 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. City officials hope to curtail teen violence by moving the curfew up half an hour.

Hopefully, this move will help. But, somehow, I think the violent teens who are already breaking the law by carrying guns and flashing gang signs won’t really care if they break the curfew law.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. Wearing a blue ribbon signifies solidarity with all those who promote child abuse prevention. This blue ribbon campaign started in 1989 with a Virginia grandmother paying tribute to her grandson who died as a result of abuse. It has since expanded across the country.
