Today is International Stress Awareness Day, so, at least for a moment, put your feet up, sip on a warm cup of tea and relax.

Are you ready for some football? The Burbank Titans will be holding early registration for their Youth Football and Cheerleading League at the Newcastle Park Recreation Center, 8050 S Newcastle Ave., from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 18. Parents are encouraged to register their children ages 5-14 years for one of their five football or cheerleading divisions.

A $50 deposit per child is required at the time of registration. For more information, call Mark Mellenthin at (708) 285-1452 or (708) 430-0792.

It’s still not too late to make plans for the “Friends and Family” adult CPR class, sponsored by the Burbank Fire Department. It will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 19 at the Burbank Fire Department, 8455 S. Mayfield Ave.

This class, open to all Burbank residents, is limited to the first 25 participants. To register, call (708) 599-7766 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.

The Burbank Park District is offering an American Red Cross Baby-sitting Training course for children ages 11-15  from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 19 at the Newcastle Park Recreation Center, 8050 S. Newcastle Ave.  The cost is $15 per person, and is limited to 10 participants. For more information, call (708) 599-2070.

Don’t forget to support your local Girl Scout Troops this weekend during their “Feet on the Streets” campaign. They will be selling cookies door-to-door and at local businesses. You’ll find troops at Jewel on 87th and Ridgeland and 79th and Cicero, Tony’s Foods and CVS Pharmacy at 87th and Harlem, and K-Mart on 110th and Cicero, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 19.

Timothy Patula, a member of Boy Scout Troop 481 of St. Albert the Great Church, is working on his Eagle Scout project, a food drive to help the homeless and needy in our area.

Drop-boxes are available until April 21 at Burbank City Hall, 6530 W. 79th St., and at St. Albert the Great Church, 5555 State Road, until April 20. Donations of nonperishable food are greatly appreciated. If you have any questions about the food drive, call Timothy at (708) 422-5822.

Teens may dance the night away at a mixer on Friday, April 18 that is sponsored by the Burbank Park District. The mixer, for sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders, will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at Burbank School, 83rd and Linder. There is a $4 entrance fee, and a valid Burbank Park District ID is required.
