Women's Club Meetings

American Legion Auxiliary Unit 735 will hold its 21st Annual Card and Bunco Party from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 27 at the hall, 6050 S. Harlem Ave., Summit.

A $3.50 donation will be accepted and includes prizes, raffles and a sorry game. Free coffee and dessert will be offered. Lunch is $2.50.

Guests are welcome.

Robin Baumgarten, morning news anchor at WGN-TV Channel 9 and a 1986 graduate of Queen of Peace High School, will serve as the honorary chair and master of ceremonies Friday, April 11 at Queen of Peace High School’s 5th Annual Mazzuchelli Scholarship Benefit.

Baumgarten and Peace’s Board of Directors host the dinner auction at the Hyatt Lodge in Oak Brook. The Mazzuchelli Scholarship event — Buona Sera, A Good Night for a Great Benefit — is the school’s largest annual academic scholarship and financial-aid fund-raiser for students.

Since its inception four years ago, Buona Sera has raised more than $160,000 in scholarship dollars. This year, Queen of Peace granted $212,400 in direct academic scholarships and tuition assistance to 191 students and was able to assist an additional 43 students by partnering with outside sources.

This year’s affair includes hors d’oeuvres, a grand buffet and sweet table, live entertainment and valet parking for $125 per person. The benefit will be held at the Hyatt Lodge at McDonald’s Campus in Oak Brook from 6 to 10 p.m. More information may be obtained by calling (708) 458-7600, ext. 250, or by visiting www.peaceleads.info.

The St. Nicholas Ladies’ Philoptochos Society will be preparing homemade Greek pastries and other delicacies in preparation for the observance of Orthodox Easter on Sunday, April 27.

The women will be making baklava, Kourambiedes, Koulouria and melomakaroma, as well as cheese and spinach triangles and pastitsio. St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church is at 10301 S. Kolmar Ave, Oak Lawn.

The St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society’s Annual Spring Rummage Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 12 at the church, 10301 S. Kostner Ave., Oak Lawn.

Items available include clothing, household items, jewelry and “nearly new” items. Pizza slices will be sold for $1 each, along with bake sale items.

Proceeds are earmarked for local charities. More information may be obtained by calling (708) 636-7874.

The Mount Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Women will hold its annual Rummage Sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 23 and 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, April 24 at the church, 10400 S. Kostner Ave., Oak Lawn.

Sale items include clothing, household goods, games and toys. A bake sale and refreshments will also be offered. A $ 3 per bag special will be offered. Parking is available.

The Christian Women’s Fellowship of Hometown Christian Church invites men and women to their annual Spring Salad Luncheon beginning at noon Wednesday, April 16 at the church, 4340 W. 87th St.

An assortment of salads and desserts will be offered for lunch. The fee is $7 for adults and $3 for children ages 6 to 12.

Tickets may be purchased at the door. The proceeds will be used for mission projects.
