Stanley Klockowski, Retired CPD, Dies
Scottsdale resident Stanley “Buddy” Klockowski, 74, a retired Chicago policeman, died March 25 at Christ Hospital.
Mr. Klockowski, an Army veteran, is survived by his wife, Jean (nee Studdard); son, John; daughter, Kathy Klockowski; one grandchild; sister, Mildred; brother, James; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were Saturday from Andrew J. McGann & Son Funeral Home to St. Bede the Venerable Church. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery.
Retired Policeman ‘Thom’ Phelps Dies
Thompson “Thom” G. Phelps Jr., 57, a retired Chicago policeman, died March 23 at his Oak Lawn home.
Mr. Phelps, a former Southwest Side resident, is survived by his wife, Kyle (nee Wunder); sons, Thompson G. Phelps III and Trevor D. Phelps; mother, Lucille; sisters, Patricia Phelps and Melanie Yakima; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were March 27 at Thompson & Kuenster Funeral Home. Interment was private.
Robert Kec, Fireman From G. Ridge, Dies
Robert Kec, 52, a 12-year veteran of the Chicago Fire Department, died March 28 at his Garfield Ridge home.
Mr. Kec is survived by his wife, Ann Kec (nee Gniadek); daughters, Jennifer and Ann; son, John Kec; four grandchildren; parents, Robert and Mary Kec; siblings, Kathy Sarhage, Chris and Ruth; and nieces and nephews.
Services were Wednesday from Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home to our Lady of the Snows Church. Interment was private.
Robert Cassidy
Robert P. Cassidy, 71, a former Wrightwood resident, died Saturday at his Oak Lawn home.
Mr. Cassidy, an Army veteran, was a retired sheet-metal worker.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Cassidy (nee Peacock); sons, Robert G. and Tony Cassidy; daughters, Rita Marie Rodriguez and Bridget K. Daniels; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Lila McElliott, Joan Doyle and Jeanette Caponera; brothers, William and Thomas Cassidy; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were Wednesday from Blake-Lamb Funeral Home to St. Thomas More Church. Interment was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Carol Crandall
Carol K. Crandall (nee Lewis), 47, died March 20 at her Southwest Side home.
Mrs. Crandall, a homemaker, is survived by her husband, Harry; brother, Kenny; sisters, Julie, Georgia and Cindy; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were last Friday at Ridge Funeral Home. Interment was at Fairmount Willow Hills Cemetery.
Helen Di Gangi
Helen T. Di Gangi (nee Devitt), 82, a former Garfield Ridge resident, died March 23 in Florida.
Mrs. Di Gangi, a homemaker, is survived by her daughters, Mary Therese Wedel and Antoinette Kraft; sons, Joseph and Dominick Di Gangi; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were last Friday at Foran Funeral Home. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery.
Rudolf Dorsz
Rudolf Dorsz, 71, a resident of Garfield Ridge, died March 26.
Mr. Dorsz was a welder.
He is survived by his wife, Dorota (nee Slonina); children, Janusz and Steve Dorsz; five grandchildren; sister, Maria Ogrodowskii; and nieces and nephews.
Services were Monday from Zarzycki Manor Chapels to St. Richard Church. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery.
William Fogarty
William P. Fogarty, 84, a former Scottsdale resident, died March 27 at Palos Community Hospital.
Mr. Fogarty was a retired employee of Illinois Central Railroad.
Survivors include his daughters, Rita Ducat, Carol Copak, Louise Pajor, Mary Prenta and Jean Grish; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Mary Smith and Kay Busam, and brother, Joseph, OP.
Services were Monday from Donnellan Funeral Home (Curley Sons Directors) to St. Bede the Venerable Church. Interment was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Kevin Fox
Kevin D. Fox, 54, formerly of the Clearing area, died March 26 at Swedish Covenant Hospital.
Mr. Fox was a construction worker.
He is survived by his sisters, Gloria, Linda O’Donnell, Gail Livigni, Cynthia Volpi and Reenie Collaro; brothers, Daniel, Richard (CFD), James and John (CFD);, wife, Valerie; stepchildren, Eugene and Jamie; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were Saturday from Central Funeral Chapel to St. Symphorosa Church. Interment was private.
Josephine Kobylar
Josephine Kobylar (nee Staroska), 87, a former Archer Heights resident, died March 29 at Edward Hospital.
Mrs. Kobylar, a member of St. Bruno Senior Citizens, was a lunchroom attendant for the Chicago Board of Education at the Davis School.
She is survived by her grandchildren; Jodi Zepeda, Julie McCauley and Sean Kobylar; one great-grandson; and a niece and nephew.
Services were Wednesday from Wolniak Funeral Home to St. Bruno Church. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery.
Eileen Krzystofiak
Eileen A. Krzystofiak (nee Foley), 83, a West Elsdon resident, died March 26 at Little Company of Mary Hospital.
Mrs. Krzystofiak was an office worker at St. Turibius Church who belonged to various clubs at the church.
She is survived by her sons, Andrew, Thomas and Joseph; many grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were Saturday from Modell Funeral Home to St. Turibius Church. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery.
Leo Palehonka
Leo Palehonka, 83, a Garfield Ridge resident, died March 27 at the Brentwood Acute Health Care Center.
Mr. Palehonka, a World War II Navy veteran, was a 42-year employee of the Walgreen Company.
He held various offices with Archer Highland American Legion Post 698, including commander, and was a member of PFC Ted Stempien VFW Post 8821.
He is survived by his sisters, Marie Koetzle, Sophie Niziolek, Angeline Boudreau, Lottie Jaworski and Eleanor Kozlowski; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were Monday from Szykowny Funeral Home to St. Symphorosa Church. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery.
Victor Perez
Victor Perez, 81, a resident of the Southwest Side, died March 24 at MacNeal Hospital.
Mr. Perez, an Army veteran from the World War II era, was a tool and die machinist.
He is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth Ruiz, Laura Perez, Victoria Arteaga and Carol Wojcik; sons, Robert Gomez and Victor Perez; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many siblings.
Services were Saturday from Szykowny Funeral Home (Jonathan F. Siedlecki, Director) to Our Lady of Fatima Church. Interment was at St. Mary Cemetery.
Caroline Pociask
Caroline “Helen” Pociask (nee Schneller), 86, a former resident of Garfield Ridge, died March 25 at St. James Hospital.
Mrs. Pociask was a manufacturing inspector.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Services were Saturday from Ridge Funeral Home to St. Symphorosa Church. Interment was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Frank Skraba
Frank J. Skraba, 82, a former West Lawn resident, died March 12 at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center.
Mr. Skraba, a World Way II Army veteran, was a retired maintenance worker. He was also a 28-year member of Clearing American Legion Post 600, which he served as sergeant-at-arms for several years starting in 1997.
He is survived by his son, Tom; three grandchildren; sister, Helen Piotrowski; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were March 15 from Brady-Gill Funeral Home to St. Julie Billiart Church. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery.
B. Wozniak
Bernadette A. Wozniak (nee Cichowicz), 78, a Southwest Side resident, died March 27 at Little Company of Mary Hospital.
Mrs. Wozniak was a factory worker.
Survivors include her daughters, Carol Czajkowski and Renee Rivera; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were Monday from Richard-Midway Funeral Home to St. Michael Church. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery.
