Armed Robbery
Two men committed an armed robbery about 9 p.m. March 20 at Midway Truck Parts, 7400 W. 87th St., and escaped in an older model gold Blazer with an unknown amount of money from the cash register and one customer’s wallet.
A 53-year-old store employee reported seeing the two men browsing in the store and then heard one of them say “this is a stick-up” before coming behind the counter and taking an unknown amount of money from the cash register. The offender, brandishing a revolver, asked where the safe was, and struck the cashier on the head when he was told there was no safe.
There were about six other customers in the store at the time, who were told to lie face-down on the floor while the robbery was under way. One customer said that when he did so, someone took his wallet containing about $100 in cash and credit cards.
The two offenders were both described as black, under 21, wearing black clothing and shoes. One was said to be 5’8 or 5’9, and the other 5’5 or 5’6.
