Monday, Mar. 17 is the start of the “Senior Free Ride Program.” To take advantage of this new program, seniors ages 65 and older need either their current senior reduced fare card or they need to sign up for the RTA's senior reduced fare program. For registration sites contact the RTA’s Customer Service Center at 836-7000 from any area code, or refer to the Web site at www.rtachicago.com.
Have you heard of the “scared straight” programs for at-risk children and teens? Well, 18th Ward Ald. Lona Lane is sponsoring “Keepin’ It Real.” “Keepin’ It Real" connects at-risk youths and their parents or guardians with current inmates for the sole purpose of providing the “real” story on inmate life.
Find out how both you and your child can avoid the pitfalls that happen when wrong choices are made. “Keepin’ It Real” will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 27 at Bogan High School, 3939 W. 79th St. Parental/guardian consent forms are required for children under 18 years of age.
