Oak Lawn Hosts ‘Hoops For Haiti’ Benefit Game
The Oak Lawn varsity girls basketball team will host the Richards Bulldogs at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11 with proceeds from the event going to Doctors without Borders to assist the relief efforts in Haiti.
The game will be played at Oak Lawn Community High School, 9400 Southwest Highway. These two rival teams will unite for a common cause: Haiti Relief Effort. The event is called “Hoops for Haiti.”
Beginning Monday, Feb. 8, T-shirts will be available for purchase during all lunch periods in the student cafeteria. The T-shirts will have the slogan “Help Haiti Now: Unite to Assist” translated in French. T-shirts are $6 and will serve as a ticket to the game and will be available for purchase at the game as well.
An information table at the event will reflect the educational components regarding Haiti and Doctors without Borders. The OLCHS Booster Club will offer free popcorn to all patrons wearing Help Haiti Now T-shirts.
Donations can also be made directly to Doctors without Borders through Natalia Venturini in Room 358 at the high school.
