Orthopedic Clinic Is Being Held by Elks

Oak Lawn Elks Lodge 2254 and Chicago South Lodge 1596, in cooperation with the Illinois Elks Children’s Care Program, will hold a free children’s orthopedic assessment clinic from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 6 in Suite 101 of the Mary Potter Pavilion at Little Company of Mary Hospital, 2800 W. 95th St., Evergreen Park.

Appointments may be made by calling the Illinois Elks Crippled Children’s Fund at (800) 272-0074 between 1 and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Dr. Mark Moran, of Parkview Orthopedic Group Service Corp, in Palos Heights, will be the clinician.

A graduate of the University of Toronto Medical School, Moran has written abstracts and papers on orthopedic topics, has been a research fellow at a children’s hospital in Toronto, and has been a clinical fellow for Children’s Hospital in Colorado.

The local clinic is one of 19 being held statewide by the Elks Club, which has been working with physically challenged children since 1928.

Children can be reviewed for bone and leg development. And issues such as spine curvature, feet pointing outward, and complaints of back, knee, ankle or leg pain will be examined.

There will be no charge for diagnostic services, and the Elks will provide financial assistance where possible for children whose families cannot afford further treatment or specialty equipment that may be needed.

Youths up to age 21 are eligible for the service. A medical referral is not necessary.

More information may be obtained by calling (800) 272-0074.
